Hello, friends! Even though it's Wednesday and my allergies are raging (YUCK), I'm PSYCHED because I've joined forces with Caitlin from Teach Inspire Change, Chandra from Teaching With Crayons and Curls, and Brittany from The Posh Teacher to bring you the new weekly teacher-fashion link-up, Trendy Teachers (#trendyteachers)! Every Wednesday, we will be holding a new-link up for you to join where we will be sharing what we're wearing in and out of the classroom, fashion finds, teacher trends, wish-lists, and much, much more.

Each week, we'll let you know what the following week's topic will be to keep this link up fun and keep you on your toes. This week, I'm sharing some of my back-to-school outfits. It's been HOTTTT here in Chicago up until this week, so most of my B2S duds look pretty summery. Now, I'm excited to be getting into crop pants, boots, long sleeves and all of my fall faves. Stay tuned for fab fall fashion in the coming weeks....AND....my first StitchFix "keeper" pieces reveal!

Be sure to follow MY INSTAGRAM to see upcoming post about #WTTWW, fashion finds, food, teaching, and more! See below for sources (gold indicates link to source) by outfit & official info for linking up each week!

30 Amazing Teachers Guest Blogger

Congrats to the amazing Cassandra for turning 30!  Woo-hoo and welcome to the club, my friend. I have to say, I’m loving my 30s. Enjoy this new turn in your life adventure!!! I had the pleasure of meeting Cassandra at this year’s TPT Conference, and more specifically at the Splash Bash pool party that I co-organized with another dear bloggie friend, Ashlyn from The Creative Classroom.  Immediately I could tell that Mrs. Third Grade was such a gentle, kind, warm soul, and that has certainly proven to be true. I have to admit I’m envious because these two lovely ladies both live close enough to each other to occasionally hang and geek out over teacher topics...wish I lived closer...but I’m more than THRILLED to have been included in this amazing celebration for Cassandra!

// Hop on over to the Mrs. Third Grade Blog to learn more about me! //

{...and to read a few tips I've learned by trial & error over the last 30-something years...LOL!}

// Here We Go Again... //

New school supplies, a perfectly clean and organized classroom, a fresh crop of students. Back-to-school is one of the most exciting times of the year for teachers! We talk about plans for our new students, ideas for classes, and eagerness to reconnect with colleagues, but what we don’t speak of are the dreaded back-to-school blues. Don’t deny it. Whether you started school a month ago, last week, or even mid-summer...I think almost everyone feels at least a small twinge of the blues as summer dwindles away and you get back into work mode. Here’s 5 ways I keep my chin up, focus on the excitement of a brand new year, and start off on the right foot when it’s back-to-school-time!

// Featured in SCHOLASTIC INSTRUCTOR Magazine!  //

Some of these tips were chosen and featured in the back-to-school issue of ScholasticInstructor  magazine! {SQUEAL!} Read about them below,

9/11 Memorial DREAM GUEST Helps Us "NEVER FORGET"

9/12/2015

Last year we experienced an EXTRA SPECIAL day for the ENTIRE 4th grade at our school. Having just remembered the events of 9/11 the week before, we were incredibly fortunate to have a guest speaker who has been instrumental in the rebuilding and memorialization of Ground Zero.

Mickey Kupperman, a.k.a. Grandpa Chip, is the Chief Operating Officer at Silverstein Properties in New York City, the developer of the World Trade Center property. He visited our classes, giving his first-hand, very personal, and completely fascinating account of the events of 9/11, and perhaps even more importantly, the diligent process to preserve the memories and honor the fallen through the REBUILDING of Freedom Tower, the 9/11 Memorial, and additional 3 towers at the site of the tragedy.

SEE FOR YOURSELF! CLICK BELOW FOR PHOTOS & POST DETAILS!

This experience was so amazingly impactful, that I wrote about it both on my CLASSROOM BLOG & SCHOLASTIC TOP TEACHING BLOG.  In my classroom blog post (HERE), you will find details about Grandpa Chip's presentation, first-hand stories, and breathtaking photos of the construction of Freedom Tower & the 9/11 Memorial. You will also seek a slideshow of our classroom experience!
Picture
In my Scholastic Top Teaching blog post, you will see highlights of this 9/11 presentation, but also read about the importance, impact, and lasting impressions guest speakers make on a classroom full of students.  Read not only about our visit from Grandpa Chip, helping us remember 9/11, but see other guest speakers we have had the privilege of hosting and tips for setting up guest speakers for success. I hope you'll read, be inspired, and reach out to your families and community to invite guest speakers to your classroom this year!
